Information Regarding Membership

Purpose

The Coalition of Psychology Practice Organizations (CPPO) is a voluntary coalition of practice-oriented psychology organizations dedicated to advancing the well-being and professional growth of doctoral level psychologists and psychology doctoral students. The CPPO pursues this mission through collaboration, resource sharing, and programmatic development.

Membership

CPPO members are nonprofit organizations whose primary mission includes a focus on preparation for or the practice of doctoral-level, health service psychology. CPPO member organizations designate representatives (generally two individuals) to participate in Coalition meetings, contribute to the strategic direction of the Coalition, assist in planning programmatic activity, serve on committees, and take on leadership roles. Member organizations are expected to sign a statement of principles acknowledging the CPPO’s governance structure and operating rules.

Eligibility and Organizational Focus

CPPO member organizations generally:

• Focus on doctoral-level practicing psychologists or psychology doctoral students;
• Operate at a national, multi-state, or statewide level;
• Are based in or work primarily within the U.S. and/or Canada; and
• Are nonprofit [501(c)(3) or 501(c)(6)] organizations

Statement of Principles – Participation Expectations

CPPO membership is active and participatory. Members are expected to:

• Nominate individual representatives to the CPPO;
• Engage in meetings, working groups, and collaborative initiatives;
• Participate in good faith and adhere to CPPO governance and operating rules;
• Support a collaborative environment grounded in mutual respect and professionalism;
• Maintain transparency and disclose potential or actual conflicts of interest;
• Hold confidential (within the member organizations and their paid staff/volunteers) CPPO strategy and proprietary programmatic projects;
• Execute non-disclosure agreements for designated projects when required; and
• Maintain regular participation in meetings; missing four consecutive meetings may trigger a membership review by the Executive Membership Council of the CPPO.

Application and Review Process

Membership is requested through a written application reviewed by the Executive Membership Council of the CPPO or a designated Membership Evaluation Board. Currently, there are no fees associated with application to or membership in the CPPO. Applying organizations may be invited to participate in a conversation as part of the review process. All applying organizations will receive written notification of the membership decision within 45 days of the application deadline, and an appeals process is available.

Applications are reviewed by CPPO Executive Membership Council and/or a designated Membership Evaluation Board. Selected applicants may be invited to participate in an in-person or virtual interview as part of the evaluation process. Applicants will be notified in writing of the membership decision within 45 days of the application deadline.

Organizations denied membership may submit a written appeal within 30 days of notification. Appeals must address the stated reasons for denial and will be reviewed by the Executive Membership Council of the CPPO. Applicants will be notified in writing of the decision regarding the appeal within 45 days of receipt.
